A million things can run through your mind when planning a trip away from home. That’s why it’s always best to prepare early to help ensure you don’t forget the essentials. We’ve prepared some tips below to help manage your health while enjoying time away from your regular routine.

Preparedness checklist:

Notify your healthcare provider. If you anticipate being away for a while, let your healthcare or specialty provider know in advance. That way, you may be able to refill prescriptions ahead of your trip and stay on top of refills if anything unexpected happens.

Contact your case manager. Your Takeda Oncology Here2Assist® case manager will be able to coordinate deliveries of your medication to different parts of the United States, including the District of Columbia. Let them know when and where you are going so they can help if needed.

Bring important documentation. Consider carrying a copy of your prescription, as many places have restrictions around certain medications. If you plan on bringing liquid medications or medical equipment on a plane, it is also beneficial to get a doctor’s note covering those items.

Clearly label your medications. Ensure your medication is clearly labeled so that it does not get confused with a family member’s or friend’s medication while traveling from place to place.

Keep your healthcare provider’s contact information with you. Have your healthcare provider’s phone number and email saved in your phone or written down and kept in a safe, accessible place like your wallet.
